Bitter-Sweet

So Yesterday and today was bitter-sweet for me. Yesterday was the last day at The Main Cut. Yes, it was sad, but I am also relieved that I won't be going in 3 different directions anymore. Today I finished moving my stuff out of the shop in to my mom’s basement. THANKS MOM & DAD!
So first off, I want to say THANK YOU! To all of the client’s that ever supported The Main Cut. I also want to say THANKS! to my “partner in crime” Susan Goeckner. Susan and I have been working together for about 10 years now. Two years in Effingham at Gotcha by the Hair and the other 7.5 has been in Dieterich.
Susan probably knows me better than anyone (besides Scott). She knows my ups and my downs that many people don’t know. We have been though a lot together…. The birth of the five children between the two of us, her nephew’s cancer, her son’s heart problem, my mother-in-law’s breast cancer, the birth of our youngest children born two weeks apart and my crazy soap-opera of a life that I can’t discuss on my blog ;) Susan, thank you so much for the great memories and for always letting me vent or complain when I needed to. PLEASE keep in touch often! I’m so excited that you know how to email now ;)
No more dragging towels home to wash, I don’t have to pack up my irons and stuff up every night to take back and forth, only having one set of bills to pay, less money to pay out but not as much money coming in either, less cleaning. Sounds better doesn’t it? I hope so!
So now I am completely moved in at Shear Madness and I start my classes on June 9th at OCC. Next week will be really nice. I only have to go to OCC and shear Madness. Burning less gas!
So here’s to a summer of studying……… Prayers may be needed.
The Journey begins…………..

Our Conversations

So this week has been pretty busy. I started my intercession class on Monday. It’s Basic College Math from 8-10:15 Monday thru Friday. It started out like, I’m guessing 4th Grade math…..not kidding. We started chapter one on Monday and took a test at the end of the class on Monday. It is getting a little harder….fractions. But I got an A on that test too. We are starting chapter 4 tomorrow. Last year I was told I had to take Beginning Algebra and Advanced algebra, so I did, now they changed the requirements and said instead of testing high on the compass test we have to take a Math for Radiography class. It’s required. The other two Algebra classes were harder! Only 2 more weeks of this class and then we move on to something a little more challenging.
Kayla had pajama day at school on Monday, she was so excited. She got to wear her PJ’s with the gum ball machine on the front that she got from the Easter Bunny. This is how our conversation went that evening when we got home…

Me: How was School?
KK: Good, we got to watch cartoons all day
Me: ALL DAY?
KK: No, not allllll day.
Me: What cartoons did you watch?
KK: Cars
Me: No way!
KK: Yip, we watched Mater!
Me: Did you take a nap?
KK: NO!
Me: Why not? You had your PJ’s on. Your supposed to take a nap when you have your PJ’s on.
KK: Not at school, Mom!

Scott has been taking the kid’s to Linda’s this week so in the mornings I get them dressed and ready to go. So here’s a story on Kyle…..

Me: Kayla have a good day at school and be good.
Kayla: Ok mom, you too and get an A on your test today.
Me: Ok Kayla, Thanks. Kyle be good at Linda’s today, Got It? (Kyle isn’t always the best little boy at Linda’s. We have to threaten ….. A LOT!)
Kyle: quietly walking out to “Little Grey” (Scott’s S-10) says nothing
Me: Kyle! GOT IT?
Kyle: (looks back at me with a shit ass little grin, you may know what I’m talking about it know my brother Steve) says “I’m walking to the truck now, Mom.”

Obviously, he’s not making any promises!

This weekend we don’t have a lot of plans because Scott is going to be in the field. The kids are going to the camp ground Friday and Saturday. Nancy, Scott’s sister, and family wanted the kids to come out one night and camp. So on Saturday, Carrie, her mom and sister, Dawn and I are going to Champaign to make a final Dress decision. I am looking forward to a great relaxing weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend too!

Mother's Day

Sunday we had a very nice Mother's Day. We headed out to Sam Parr State Park and had dinner with Scott's sister and her family. (Scott's mom and dad didn't make it out because Harold was sick) After a nice day at the park we headed to Island grove to see the Meinhart Family. We ordered pizza and played a little ball.

Uncle Doug's 3 dogs... decided to take a trip on Wednesday morning and never made it back to the house....He got a call yesterday from a friend saying she had found them. Well, she found his two dogs but the 3rd who was actually ours named Mac wasn't with them. They were found over by Rose Hill. Which means the had to cross the river. So either Mac didn't cross and is still out there or he crossed and didn't make it. They are all golden labs. So if by chance anyone sees him and he answers to Mac. Look us up. Kayla was pretty upset. Doug was holding on to Mac for us until we get our shed built this summer. He's a great trainer! (Until he decided to let them run free with out there shock collar on) ;)

Overall I had a great Mother's Day/ Birthday (mine is on Wednesday) Weekend!

Until Next time..................

A trip to St. Louis

Friday, we took off after work and went to St. Louis. I went to Priceline.com and booked a room at the Marriott at Union Station for $50. YES $50 ! (plus tax and parking for a total of $79.19) We got there later that I wanted so Union station was closed for the evening. The next morning we went to the City Museum.

Bed was GREAT!

We got to the City Museum early, so the nice gentleman that charged us $5 to park told us we could walk down a couple of blocks and eat at a nice, inexpensive little place. It was really neat. It had all mix and matched table and chairs and they had a GREAT Breakfast buffet.

This is the outside of the City Museum.

Kyle in the ball pit

This was taken up in the castle

Kayla in the trees

We decided to take a break and play with some clay. MESSY but fun!

After the City Museum (Which was a GREAT place to go and the kids had a blast) we drove down to the river front to see the river and that Arch. We ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory. The we went on to the Museum of Transportation. Our next stop was to the airport to see some planes take off. We then headed back home but had to stop in Vandalia and eat, Oh and we had to stop at Bluff Equipment just to check stuff out! We had a great trip. It was nice to get out of Jasper county for more than a few hours ;)

Kayla's first trip to the dentist

We are trying to get Kayla ready for Kindergarten, so we had her first dentist appointment. All was good. She was really worried about it but was really brave! The dental hygentist was GREAT with her!

The time is almost here....

The time has come for The Main Cut to close its doors. Our last day will be on May 30th. Susan and I have decided to pursue other opportunities. As some of you may know, I have been accepted into the Radiography program at Olney Central College, which starts in June. Unfortunately, attending radiography classes and managing The Main Cut is not possible. However, I will continue working in Newton at Shear Madness. Susan will be working at Mainly You in Teutopolis. Her days will be Monday and Thursday.

Shear Madness is located at 300 E. Morgan in Newton. Turn left after the Dairy Queen, Shear Madness is located on the right side of the road in a blue building (behind the Ford Tractor Dealership). My hours at Shear Madness may vary with each semester. But I hope to work Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, Fridays from 9-4 and maybe some Saturdays.

We have truly enjoyed the last eight years in Dieterich and would like to thank you for your support. We have met many new people and made lasting friendships. Hopefully, we will be able to continue serving your needs. I would enjoy seeing you at Shear Madness but understand if you are unable to follow me to Newton. Again, We THANK YOU for your past and continued support.

Sincerely,

Angie Kocher
& Susan Goeckner

Kayla's Tumbling Recital

Kayla's recital was last night and went really well. I tried to post the video of it but i'm having trouble getting it to load. Kayla and Ava Kessler (for my aunts that am are secretly reading my blog....that is Marge Kessler's grandaughter!---Dan & Kim's daughter) is also in her class. Kayla can do a good cart wheel but last night she hurried through it and fell of her bottom both times. She is also lost her scrunchy (can't believe her mother didn't secure that in a little better!). Grandpa & Grandma Meinhart was there to watch and we sat next to Marge, Kim and Dan and some of Kim's family (Ochs). Marge and Kyle had a good time during the show. She really enjoys teasing him :) After the show we decided to go eat at the Old Tyme Steakhouse. It was really good, probably not suitable for a 5 and 3 year old that didn't get a nap that day, though!

At home before recital

Also, on Friday night Scott, the kids and I went to the farm to take out an old fence row east of the house. It was the old hedge post with barbed wire. we striped the fence off the posts and then I (Yes, I) pulled the post out of the ground....that's how wet it is! Scott rolled the fence up. We then decided to go home but managed to get the Bushog (utility vehicle) stuck! So we had to do a little "mudd'n" to get out. We were all covered from head to toe. We had to go home and take a shower and then go back to the farm to get the van! The kids LOVED it. They want to rip more fence out today;) I will keep trying to upload the video. That's all the story's I have for today, until next time...........
