THANK YOU !!

Well, early this morning my husband told me I would most likely get stuck in the driveway if I tried to leave. So I called my appointments at The Main Cut and cancelled. Then Randy Hemrich who works for the township came with his big blue tractor and snow plow and cleared me a path. HE CLEANED MY DRIVEWAY, ALL THE WAY TO MY GARAGE!

THANK YOU RANDY! You are are favorite "Road Man, Randy". The kids thought it was great! Hope everyone enjoys the 9 inches of snow.

Our Snow day off!

So, I went to work at Shear Madness today and it was soooooo slooooow. Lanna and I together only had 1 walk-in and all of the other clients had canceled. Laura was gone today to be with her mother for a Dr. appt. so we took the afternoon off. I picked up the kids and this is what we did........

Made Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookies!

And my prayers were answered......they do get along! This was the kids watching TV after eating a few cookies! (if you look real close you can see chocolate all over Kyles mouth)
Simply Amazing that they can go from fighting to this in about 3 seconds!

Advice......

I believe that everyone in this world are entitled to their own opinions. But I don't think that they realize that they should keep that opinion to themselves. If it isn't your place or if it doesn't pretain to your life, then keep your mouth shut!

Hit the nail on the head!

So, I got my new Parenting magizine yesterday and there is a awesome article in it. Mad at Dad on Page 70. If you get a chance, read it.

Now, I have a pretty good husband and I'm not complaining, but sometimes, they just don't get it. Let me quote a line or two.....
"We hate that we have to tell them what needs to be done, that they can step over a basket of laundry on their way to find the remote control."
and
"I hate nagging, If he asks me to do something, it's done. But if something doesn't matter to him, why should he bother? He'd never forget to TiVo something he wanted to watch, mind you."
So I gave you a little, you better check the rest out yourself!

Playing in the snow

Well, Monday morning we had decided that when we got off work that evening we would take the kids sledding. Now, It is dark when Scott gets home from work, but we thought we could get a couple rounds in. Well, the kids are lucky that I didn't just say "forget it" and take all of their clothes back off of them before we even got outside! But we made outside last night around 6:00 and had a little fun. Kayla......LOVED IT. Kyle on the other hand, would not leave his face mask on, so we did not let him ride much. We tried it once and he liked it for about.....5 no maybe 10 seconds and that was it! Kayla was even trying to do some tricks on her round saucer sled (letting go of the sled) :) She also loved her snow angel. Scott pulled the sled with our Bush Hog. The pictures aren't too bad considering it was dark.

Waiting for Dad before sledding, Hiding from the coyotes that we could hear behind our house!

Kyle running in the snow, This was Fun for him!

Kayla's snow angel

Getting ready for another round.

Let's go again Dad, enough with the pictures, mom

Time to go in!

It was.......

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I will make this dish again...soon. This was not as easy as the last one I posted by not nearly as time consuming as it may seem when you read it.

Taco-Filled Pasta Shells
By: Lori Probst

2 lbs ground beef

1 cup taco sauce

2 env. taco seasoning

2 cups shredded colby and monterey jack cheese

1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese (CUBED)

1.5 c crushed tortilla chips

24 uncooked jumbo pasta shells

1 cup sour cream

1/4 c melted butter

1 cup salsa

3 green onions

Cook beef; drain. Add taco seasoning according to package directions. Add cream cheese, cover and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and chill for 1 hour. Cook pasta; drain; then gently toss with butter. Fill each shell with 3 tablespoons meat mixture. Put salsa in bottom of a 9-inch baking dish. Top with stuffed shells and taco sauce. Cover and bake at 350 for 30 min. Uncover and sprinkle with cheese and chips. Bake 15 minutes longer. Serve with sour cream and onions. Top with lettuce and tomatoes. Freeze other 12 stuffed shells. When ready to use, thaw 24 hours in refrigerator. Prepare as you did other shells and bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

Ok, First of all I did not let the taco meat/ cream cheese mixture chill for 1 hour. I don't have time for that step. Second, I used a 9x13 class dish. Third, I used Chedder and moz. cheese instead of colby and Monterey jack. I left out the butter step, and the onions (kids don't like). I also did not put any in the freezer so that we can have dinner tomorrow. LOVED IT! If you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment, Jenny ;)

A week on our own

Kyle was sick on Friday and Saturday last weekend but is back to normal now. Seems like a lot of viruses have been making there rounds lately. Scott, Kayla and I have all stayed healthy, amazingly. Wednesday night I took the kids out to eat at the new mexican place in town. We thought we better go out to eat once, before Scott came home. Scott made it home on Thursday safe and sound around 10:30 p.m. I am happy to have him back home. Traveling makes me nervous. We all missed him but...... I got sooo much stuff done while he was gone. The Kitchen cabinets got cleaned out, the bathroom got a good cleaning, by bedroom got a much needed cleaning. (and I found $100 dollars I had forgotten about). The kids got to bed at a decent time everynight although they didn't sleep very well. I also got to watch the Illini play in peace and quit!

I added a couple of lilypie counters to my blog. The kids had fun helping me pick them out. Their birthdays are in March on the 5th and the 27th. But we have a lot of other birthdays to celebrate before theirs. The first 4 months of the year are packed with birthdays on both sides of our family.
The kids are playing house right now and Kyle says the baby is pucking! How funny.
How do you get your kids to play nice all the time. Mine seem to pick on each other 99% of the time.

Lord, PLEASE help me to be more patient................

Try this recipe!

I was visiting Sarah Sez and she posted a recipe so I thought I would post a favorite of mine.

Baked Chicken Breast

6 - 8 Chicken breasts
1 can of Cream of chicken soup
1 C. sour cream
1 T. lemon juice
1 whole package of Ritz Crackers
3/4 stick of butter, melted

Place chicken in baking dish. Mix soup, sour cream and lemon juice, pour over chicken. Crush the Ritz Crackers and mix with melted butter. Sprinkle over top of chicken. Bake uncovered 1 1/4 hours at 325.

You have to use Ritz crackers or it won't taste as good. We love it! And it's easy. Enjoy:)

Monster Jam

This past week my cousin Jenny emailed me to see if we would be interested in taking the kids to Roberts Stadium in Evansville for the Monster Jam Truck Show. So we decided to go but were going to wait until we got there to get our tickets. So we left our house at 4:45 pm yesterday and stopped to eat in Albion at McDonald's. Kyle had been complaining that his head hurt and had slept on the way there. I just thought he didn't get a nap yesterday. We got to McDonald's and I went across the street to get some Tylenol at the Dollar General and gave some to Kyle then went in to eat. He was upset so I went into the bathroom to calm him down and he threw up! So we all got in the van and headed back home! Kayla was really upset but we promised to take her back another time. Good thing we didn't get our tickets yet. So the kids both slept on the way back home. We got home and Kyle was fine. Not a bit sick. Who knows? About 1:00 in the morning I wake up with a terrible headache! I kept thinking is this what Kyle felt like..........Poor kid...and we put him in a van and drove for an hour with this kind of a headache. We are terrible parents! Do you think it could have been the weather because I do this from time to time when there is a front coming through.

When we got home I looked the Monster Jam schedule up online and they are going to be in St. Louis on the 21st of February. So we just might make a weekend out of it! Yay

Scott is off to school

Tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 my husband and another coworker is leaving for Racine, WI to attend some classes on CASE Combines. He will be back on Thursday night. He hasn't been this far away from us (me) since before we had the kids. It makes me a little nervous. There are a lot of crazy drivers out there. Please come home safe guys!

Artwork By Dixie

I have a client, Dixie Petticrew, that comes in to The Main Cut every Friday to get her hair done. Two years ago for Christmas she gave me a piece of artwork that she drew of my daughter. (I had given her a picture of Kayla that I had taken) Kayla was 22 months old at the time of the picture. This past year I decided that I needed one of Kyle also. (Can't do one and not the other)

This is the picture that I gave to Dixie that she used to draw Kayla.

This is Kyles 2 year picture.

And this is Dixie's artwork of my children at the age of 2! I just recently had them put into new frames that will last a lifetime...I hope. I love them! What do you think...please let me know by leaving a comment!

You can find Dixie's website by clicking here. Thanks for looking.
